JONATHAN STONE
From Imagining to Managing
Hello, I am a performer, writer, musician.
I have made many performances, music, films, writings that cross genres
and boundaries of language and culture.
But my world has changed...
I was younger once and although still busy, I have stepped back. Some years ago I began to fall over. I took MRI scans, CAT scans, electrical nerve tests ... Eventually, after genetic tests, I was diagnosed:
'Spinal Cerebellar Ataxia 17! Incurable!', the doctors told me.
The diagnosis was scary, but although they know a lot, it's still incurable and
still a mystery. There are many types of Ataxia and many variable factors. Its
confusing but helped by exercise and diet, I don't get doom laden.
I am fortunate compared to many people with Ataxia.
This coming October I am doing a fundraising hike for Ataxia at the Grand Canyon in the US, organised by the National Ataxia Foundation.
.
Otherwise I am semi-retired but I am keeping busy:
- I have completed an 86000 word memoir of my life,

SIDEWAYS WITH INTENT
from childhood up until 2023.
It also includes writing about performance, music, humour, magic and spirituality, coping with bereavement, dysfunction and disability.
Here is a link to the beginning of the memoir.
-I have been playing and writing music.
-I have been adapting my performance knowledge, movement, musicality, awareness, towards working with well being and disability.

Whether imagining or managing,
this website shows what I've done and what I'm doing -
I'm always up for new ideas, new projects, so get in touch!.
