Short CV ( for detail and dates see Long CV)

I have been working for 35 years  in performance, theatre, dance and music, and sometimes in old and rare books.

I have worked as a performer and deviser with Ralf Ralf, a performance duo with my brother Barnaby Stone, that combined post-modern dance with theatre and cabaret.

I worked as a director/deviser/ composer with the Dinner company in US (during the late eighties and 1990s), being commissioned by Jacob's Pillow Dance Festival in association with Spoleto, USA and Walker Arts Centre  supported by National Endowment for the Arts and Glasgow European Cultural Capital 1990.

In 2004 I started the project FACEDANCES, a public art performance and cultural mapping piece of people dancing with their face to their favourite music. I filmed over 1000 faces over 10 years,  from various European countries (France, Netherlands, Spain, Germany, Ireland, England) for FACEDANCES. Now, in 2024, I am making a new FACEDANCE project for Montbeliard, French Capital of Culture.

As a composer, I worked for Dance Umbrella on 3 large site specific projects:

1) Genesis Canyon, a Dance Umbrella Commission at the Natural History Museum. The piece, by choreographer Stephan Kopowitz won a Time Out Dance and Performance Award. This composition combined live vocal and recorded sound, with a 40 piece choir.
2) Babel Index, a 2nd D.U. commission, at the British Library (1998)
3) Kohle Korper, (1999) a piece for 50 dancers, in an old cooking factory produced and commissioned by the Choreographische Zentrum, Essen.

I have worked as an actor for RNT, stage and TV and film (see Long CV)

.

I like making performance, film and music projects that cross genres, language and culture, preferably live, but these days, with so much going online, who knows....
